Let’s Reconnect – #NewYearNewUs

While the New Year is often seen as a time for new beginnings, it’s also an important time for reflection.
1 in 2 people say their busy lives stop them from connecting with others as much as they would like.
Maybe you moved to a new city, started a new job or a family. Maybe you just fell out of touch. Whatever the reason, the New Year is the perfect excuse to reach out and reconnect.
Reconnecting
Think about the people already in our lives, reach out, and reconnect.
That could mean with friends, family, or even someone you used to go to school with.
Families often come together for Christmas, but it’s important to check in and reconnect with your older relatives all year round, and not just during the festive season.
Get in touch with that friend you haven’t seen in a while and suggest a time to go for a coffee and a catch-up.
Friendship and support are something we will need at some point in our lives. So it’s important to create those networks around us now to ensure we all have the meaningful connections we need.
All it takes
There are some people you fell out of touch with for a reason, and that’s ok, but think about those people you lost contact with, just because life got in the way.
All it takes is one of you to reach out to reignite the sparks of that friendship.
New Year, New Us
#NewYearNewUs is about making your new year’s resolutions about having those random chats with people, keeping in touch with your friends, and trying and find more ways to connect with those around us in our lives.
Let’s make 2020 the year we really celebrate friendship. Because there’s nothing like a good friend. And we all need them.
In the words of Author, Journalist and friend of the campaign, Kate Leaver: “My only New Year’s Resolution is to be a better friend. Be the friend you wish you had in this world, and maybe we will start to chip away at this epidemic of loneliness.”
