These simple things can help you feel more connected in your community – and help end loneliness

Almost four in five of UK adults feel there is less of a sense of community in the UK than there was 20 years ago.
This loss of belonging and community puts people at higher risk of experiencing loneliness. And we want to change that.
We can all play a part in tackling loneliness and improving our sense of community:
91% of us think that small moments of connection, like saying hello on the bus, or smiling at someone in the street, can make a difference to someone who is feeling lonely.
These small moments of connection are proven to improve our wellbeing and our sense of belonging.
We want to encourage the small, easy, everyday things we can all do to feel more connected and part of our communities, and help tackle loneliness. And we want to hear how you think we can all be even more connected.

According our recent polling, 72% of UK adults think it’s important to know our neighbours. Whether you live in a big city or a rural area, we all have neighbours. More of us than ever before are living alone. It’s time to Get To Know Our Neighbours.
